Top 6 of 2006

Tuesday March 06, 2007 – Where did you go to get away last year? Thanks to the outstanding value of the Vacation Network experience, many of our clients spent the past year jet setting to some of the world’s best spots. The Vacation Network Top 6 of 2006 lists the six most popular destinations in our network, and last year’s number one vacation spot was Orlando, Florida.

Orlando offers everything from Sea World, to Universal Studios to Disney. “Orlando has always been great for families, with a wide array of attractions that appeal to all ages,” said Raven Morrison, reservation manager with Vacation Network. “Continual additions to these parks, in addition to new ones, will keep Orlando as a top destination for years to come,” she said.

Coming in second is Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean. From Seven Mile beach, one of the most beautiful stretches in all the Caribbean, to trips through undisturbed woodlands and sunken ships, Grand Cayman is the perfect place for those looking for an adventure or a peaceful retreat.

A vast array of activities, including ancient Mayan archaeological sites and a vibrant nightlife, make Cancun, Mexico an easy pick for many, and the third most popular destination for VNI travelers in 2006. “Our neighbor to the south has created an amazing oasis of fun in the sun,” said Teddy Kavadas, vice president of Vacation Network. “The accommodations now available in this part of the world are second to none,” he said.

At number four is Florida again, this time with Panama City Beach. “Panama City Beach is a popular destination for a number of reasons,” said Morrison. “Revitalization efforts over the past decade have made it the perfect destination for singles, married couples, or family getaways.”

Number five on the Top 6 of 2006 is Hawaii. “Hawaii is just about unmatched in its offering of natural beauty, cultural experience and relaxing atmosphere,” Morrison said. “Hawaii gives people the chance to discover one of the most unique spots in America, and of course, the world class golf courses don’t hurt either.”

Finally, number six of VNI’s Top 6 of 2006 is Scottsdale, Arizona, one of the nation’s fastest growing cities. “People interested in seeing the American west are making Scottsdale their destination of choice,” said Morrison. Scottsdale is known for its luxury lifestyle, fine dining, outstanding golfing, and incredible nightlife. It is also rich with art, museums and tales of the wild wild American west.

Kavadas agrees. “We have seen Scottsdale become a key piece of the VNI network,” he said. “With unbeatable weather and a litany of outdoor activities, Arizona is becoming a prime destination for Americans looking to play on their time off.”
