The Telephone Triage RN ensures that patients and other customers receive quality and efficient clinical service, facilitating a seamless patient experience between office visits. The RN is responsible for responding to patient calls in a professional, courteous, and prompt manner. We are looking for experienced professionals to join our outpatient cardiology team. Responsibilities: Log in and out of the call center system as scheduled. Answer triage phone calls courteously and promptly. Provide friendly and empathetic telephone service, addressing medical questions, concerns, or symptoms with prompt resolution. Appropriately triage calls and escalate concerns to providers when necessary. Assist with appointment scheduling as needed. Follow established policies and procedures. Document all patient interactions clearly and accurately in the EMR. Update patient information (demographics, medications, history) in the EMR as needed. Adhere to service level goals to ensure efficient patient service. Provide patient education as appropriate. Inform patients of test results following Virginia Heart protocols. Participate in emergency resuscitative efforts when in the office setting. After passing the Prescription Refill Authorization Competency Exam, authorize prescription refills under provider supervision. After passing the Anticoagulation Management Competency Exam, perform anticoagulation therapy management. Requirements: Successful completion of a Registered Nurse program. Current Virginia State RN license or valid Compact State License to work in Virginia. Ability to commit to a full-time position. 2-3 years of clinical experience managing cardiac patients preferred. Experience in a triage call center preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR), preferably EPIC. Must pass the competency exams for prescription refill authorization, anticoagulation management, and triage before working independently.
