As an intern you will participate in our nationwide Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP, where you will have the opportunity to Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Aiken, SC facility. We have 2 positions onsite at our Aiken facility, 1 for the winter (January-May) and 1 for summer (May-August). Relocation will not be offered, and housing is not provided. This position is expected to be Full Time (40 hours / week).
The Combat Vehicles line of business within the Platforms & Services (P&S) Sector of BAE Systems is looking for an intern who is pursuing an Industrial, Systems, or Process Engineering degree to support the assembly of armored military vehicles.We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team. You will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, apply theoretical knowledge, and develop practical skills in Industrial Engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a strong foundation in Industrial Engineering principles and practices.
**As an Industiral Engineering intern you will:**
+ Assist in conducting time studies to analyze and optimize production processes
+ Participate in Lean methodology initiatives to identify and eliminate waste in production processes
+ Analyze production processes to distinguish between value-added and non-value-added time, and identify opportunities for improvement
+ Assist in collecting and analyzing data to support process improvements
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes
+ Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs)
+ Assist in identifying and implementing opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency gains
+ Assist in upkeep and updates of facility layouts using AutoCAD
+ Support Digital Twin revisions through data collection and cross functional collaboration (Simio)
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
+ Strong understanding of Industrial Engineering principles, including time study, Lean methodologies, and GD&T basics
+ Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau)
+ Excellent communication and teamwork skills
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
+ Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Experience with industrial engineering software (e.g., Minitab, Arena)
+ Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production systems
+ Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma)
+ Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, D3.js)
+ Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $41818 - $56444
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
