We are seeking a Water System Operator in Training to learn to operate, inspect, and maintain the various components of the water supply, treatment, and distribution systems for both the Quonset Business Park and Ladd Center public water systems (PWS's). Provide technical input as well as oversee proposed repair plans to the systems which include commercial wells, emergency interconnects, storage/pressure towers, distribution pipelines, associated valves, hydrants, cross connection control equipment, and electronic meters. Conduct all associated buildings and grounds maintenance. CDL is required or must be attained within six (6) months. Ability to obtain a R.I. Board of Certification of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities: Distribution Operator Class 1 and Treatment Operator Class 1 licenses are required within 180 days (or 6 months) of date of hire: or Certification in Rhode Island by reciprocity from another state must be attained within 180 days (or 6 months) of date of hire. R.I. Board of Certification of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities: Distribution Operator Class 2 license required within 18 months from date of hire. New England Waterworks Association or American Backflow Prevention Association: Certified Backflow Prevention Device Inspector/Tester. Certification must be attained within two (2) years of hire date. Must be able to attain a TWIC, General Dynamics / Electric Boat, and Department of Defense (DBIDS) security clearance badges within 90 days from date of hire.
