The Weitz Company is hiring a Human Resources Intern to join us for the spring semester! This internship will report to the Talent Acquisition team and will provide an exciting opportunity to learn about a variety of HR functions including talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, and benefits. This internship will begin during the spring semester (no later than February 3rd) with the possibility to continue the internship over the summer (internship ending no later than August 15th). What You'll Do: Support the HR department/teams by providing process documentation (process mapping, swim lane mapping), review for enhancements and efficiencies, and make recommendations for process improvement Provide suggestions on changes, upgrades, or systems to propel the company forward Utilize technology to enhance/streamline processes Gain an understanding of system limitations and where new/updated systems could be beneficial Utilize hiring manager data to understand hiring processes and potential improvements Explore different roles within the HR department and learn how the team strategically supports the business and our employees Gain professional experience and a strong understanding of The Weitz Company and how we Build a Better Way Create a final presentation to present to the HR leadership team showcasing what you worked on and learned throughout your internship experience What We're Looking For: Education: Currently obtaining an undergraduate degree in Business, Human Resource Management, or a related field with an interest in human resources Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills High attention to detail Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative Excellent relationship building skills and the desire to work in a team-oriented environment Analytical with strong problem-solving abilities Technology: Proficiency in basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel Ability to learn job-related software Additional Requirements: Ability to work onsite at our office in Des Moines, IA Ability to work part-time throughout the spring semester (16-24 hours per week) Visa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.
