The Victim Advocate and Volunteer Coordinator provides administrative support for victim services and volunteers for the Phila. CeaseFire 24hr Crisis Intervention Program. Responsible for submitting victims' compensation claims and recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for our victim services project. Tracks and delegates responsibilities to volunteers and provide support as necessary to our program participants that have been critically injured. This position provides support and referral services as needed including emergency crisis counseling, and case management support. Responsibilities include: Serves as point of contact for referrals for victims of violent crime and program volunteers- Assists with completion of victim compensation claims. Serve as the crisis response victim assistance liaison for local victim services organizations Responds to calls and consultations regarding victim assistance Maintains a data base of all victims identified and served by the program to assist in measuring program outreach and effectiveness and improve victim satisfaction and services Provides support to the HUB multidisciplinary team to assure service support is provided. Source and recruit volunteers using various recruiting techniques Collect background information on qualifications and skills of prospects Arrange for training when needed Manage volunteer activity and assign responsibilities as appropriate Communicate frequently with volunteers Performs office management and other administrative support for program staff Assists in gathering data and completing ETO case management reports. Maintains accurate and confidential files Assists in preparation and dissemination of materials designed to help educate the community Represent the program and public meetings and community events. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education & Experience: At least three years of experience demonstrating knowledge of victimization and needed sensitivity to successfully work with youth victims, families and broader communities impacted by shootings. Must interact well with volunteers and manage stressful situations that may occur involving victims of crime. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Required Skills & Abilities: Working knowledge of office management systems and procedures and office equipment Strong organizational skills and orientation to detail Excellent computer and related skills to include use of internet search engines, Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with victims, employees, volunteers, and collaborative partners Proven ability to document programmatic activities and assist others in doing so. Experience and/or training in crisis intervention and staff supervision. Proven community organizing abilities. Performs other duties as assigned. This position requires a background check. This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service. This is a grant funded position. This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
