Telephone Triage Nurse, Gastroenterology 1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicants Department 02130 WFBMG University Group Practice: WFBMC Main - Gastroenterology Status Full-time Benefits Eligible Yes Hours Per Week 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information M-F, 8am - 5pm, no weekends Pay Range $34.90 - $52.35 Overview This position provides telephone-based triage nursing services for gastroenterology patients, using telecommunication technologies to assess patient needs, provide guidance, and coordinate appropriate care with providers. Education/Experience Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with two years of acute care experience required. BSN preferred. Prefer acute care experience within the last 10 years. Previous experience in Telephone Triage and with Health Insurance and Managed Care concepts preferred. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. Licensure in other states as required by law or client contract. Essential Functions Provides patient/family centered care, partnering with patients and families to manage health care needs, respecting culture and values, goals, and treatment preferences. Uses critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care, assessing patients via telecommunication technologies (telephone, fax, email, internet, patient portal). Ensures proper scheduling and follow-up on test results; communicates results and medications using approved protocols and evidence-based practice. Upholds the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics in professional obligations and patient care. Engages in professional development, maintains competencies, and participates in shared governance and peer review to promote clinical excellence and accountability. Focuses on patient safety and quality of nursing care with appropriate interventions, education, advocacy, and care coordination. Maintains knowledge of care teams for coordination of patient care and adapts communication to diverse patient backgrounds. Demonstrates strong assessment, critical thinking, and customer service skills. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
