Position SummaryThe Senior Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. Reporting to the CEO, this position is responsible for general ledger management, month-end closing, reconciliations, fixed asset management, accounts payable processing, and treasury reporting. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. This role is hands-on and collaborative — ideal for a motivated accounting professional seeking to grow within a dynamic, healthcare-focused organization. Looking for a team member to create an implement a structured finance department for our rapidly growing company.
Essential Functions:General Accounting & Reporting• Prepare and record month-end journal entries and recurring accruals.
• Reconcile general ledger and sub-ledger accounts, including bank accounts, prepaid assets, and fixed assets.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial reporting packages, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements.
• Perform variance and trend analysis to identify discrepancies and explain fluctuations.
• Support the preparation of tax filings, audits, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Enter and accurately code accounts payable invoices; prepare weekly payment batches for CEO’s review.
• Maintain vendor files and ensure proper authorization and documentation of disbursements.
• Reconcile and maintain multiple banking accounts; assist with daily cash reporting and treasury management.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset sub-ledgers, record additions, disposals, and depreciation.
• Support implementation and optimization of accounting software and automation tools.
• Collaborate and build internal teams to enhance financial reporting, controls, and system efficiency.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for external auditors.
• Support internal control initiatives and compliance with healthcare and company policies.
• Perform ad hoc analyses and reporting as requested by leadership.
• Assist in process improvement and system enhancement projects as the organization grows.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience (preferably in healthcare, laboratory, or multi-entity environments).
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Proven experience with bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• CPA or working toward CPA certification.
• Familiarity with Bill.com or other AP automation tools.
•Experience with Nexonia and or ERP systems
• Prior public accounting or healthcare industry experience.
• 3-5 years EMR experience.
