**Safety Manager**
****Job Summary****
The Safety Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, and supervision of the companys safety program. In addition will also assist the Director of Safety and Risk Management with the workers compensation programs. The Safety Manager shall create programs such as company policies, investigate incidents/accidents, and implement post injury follow up for workers.
****Main Responsibilities****
* Assists the Director of Safety and Risk Management with the companys risk management, safety, and workers compensation programs
* Provides technical safety/health and risk support for all divisions/employees
* Prepares written health and safety programs/policies
* Identifies company safety training needs and coordinates/conducts safety trainings
* Assists in developing the annual company safety and risk goals
* Makes purchasing recommendations and manages PPE and specialty safety equipment
* Reviews contracts for safety/insurance requirements
* Schedules and oversees workplace inspections that identify and address potential safety hazards
* Conducts job sites audits and inspections
* Develops site specific safety plans
* Develops safety alerts
* Investigates incidents/accidents/near misses and makes recommendations of lessons learned
* Prepares and submits accident reports in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements
* Supervisory responsibility for Safety Specialists
* Shall participate in MSHA/Cal-OSHA inspections
* Other duties as assigned
****Education****
* Bachelors Degree (BA) from a four-year college/university; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
****Skills****
* Ability to conduct safety meetings and/or speak in front of others with ease
* Ability to self-manage and self-motivate
* Ability to train and/or instruct others in safety policies and procedures
* Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines
* Ability to drive to various sites
* Bilingual English/Spanish (a plus)
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Previous knowledge of accident prevention and industrial safety practices; safety and occupational health laws and procedures; methods of assessing safety hazards and controls; hazardous materials storage; emergency preparedness activities
* Previous knowledge of Cal-OSHA/MSHA regulations and standards with the ability to read and understand any further updated technical documents pertaining to existing regulations
* Possesses a self-starter mindset with excellent follow-through
* Strong team and collaborative skills
* Team player with the ability to work alone for specific tasks
* Up-to-date knowledge of safe work practices and safety regulations
* Familiar with applicable federal, state, and local rules, and regulations as required by Cal-OSHA, MSHA, and other regulatory agencies
* Familiar with state workers compensation programs, dealing with insurance companies as related to accidents and injuries and general safety and health policies and practices
* Ability to interact with other and positively influence their behavior in an organized manner while managing multiple daily activities between office and field
