The Role You’ll Play

  • Conduct research and cost-benefit analyses to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Monitor and maintain safety equipment, supplies, and inventory.
  • Prepare and process invoices, reimbursements, and documentation for the Safety Manager.
  • Contribute to safety trainings, education programs, and company-wide communications.
  • Serve as a representative of the Safety Department in meetings and presentations.
  • Support campus security and emergency procedures as needed.

You’ll Thrive in This Position If You…

  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in sensitive situations.
  • Can adapt to a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and occasional adjustments on short notice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Emergency Management, or related fields—or 4 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ICC, and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with unionized workforces, especially in performing arts settings (AEA, IATSE, SDC).
  • Industry certifications in safety, health, or emergency response.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to access all areas of OSF’s campus, including stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (20 lbs overhead) and perform physical tasks such as crouching, stooping, or crawling.
  • Comfort working in varied environments, including outdoor conditions.

Organizational Background

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) was founded in 1935 in Ashland, OR, and has grown from a three-day festival of two plays to a nationally renowned theatre arts organization that presents a rotating repertory season of up to 10 plays and musicals, including illuminating interpretations of Shakespeare, other enduring classics, and new works. OSF productions have been presented on Broadway, internationally, and at regional, community, and high school theatres across the country. OSF received the 1983 Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre and is one of the largest nonprofit theatres in the nation with three stages, including an outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

Statement of Purpose

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival creates world-class theatre, revealing our collective humanity through illuminating interpretations of new and classic plays, and inspiring a love of our art form for current and future generations.
