The Center for Brain & Spine has been routinely named to Washingtonian’s list of Top Doctors in Neurosurgery. Our team specializes in treating brain and spine tumors, traumatic brain and spine injuries, stroke, hydrocephalus, degenerative disc disease, back pain and sciatica, and multiple other conditions.
Our main office is conveniently situated in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, and we have satellite locations in Largo, Rockville, Annapolis and Brandywine.
We are seeking a highly motivated and resourceful individual to join our team as a Medical Receptionist. As the first point of contact with our patients, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive and professional image for our practice. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys multitasking, problem-solving, and helping others, while gaining valuable experience in a professional healthcare setting.
Duties Include: - Answering and directing phone calls promptly to the appropriate staff members
- Assisting patients with check-in/check-out instructions, scheduling needs, questions, and requests both in person and over the phone
- Communicating with physicians, physician assistants, and clinical staff to ensure coordinated care
- Verifying insurance eligibility and updating patient records accordingly
- Scheduling patient appointments with accuracy and efficiency
- Calling in prescriptions to pharmacies as directed by medical providers
- Faxing clinical documentation and scanning medical records into the EMR system
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information within electronic medical records
- Collecting patient copayments and deductibles in accordance with billing procedures
- Traveling to satellite office locations per the doctor’s schedule
- Supporting a clean, organized, and welcoming front office environment
- Providing administrative support to clinical and administrative teams as needed
- Handling sensitive patient information with discretion and confidentiality
Education, Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- 2-4 years of experience in a front desk, customer service, or administrative role, preferably in a medical setting
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is a plus
- Familiarity with EMR systems and office equipment such as phone systems, fax machines and scanners
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first attitude
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Pay Range:
- The pay range for this position is $20-$22/hour and is based on many factors including education, qualifications and most importantly relevant experience.
- The pay range is just a part of the total rewards package provided to employees and other rewards may include annual performance bonuses and paid leave programs.
