Interpreters and Translators, Inc.(iTi) is a multicultural language solutions provider supporting clients in over 250 languages across the globe. Services range from document translation services to in-person interpreter services to aid organizations in breaking through language barriers. You will be a key member of our freelance team in facilitating language communication on a variety of assignments while having the chance to utilize your bilingual/multilingual skills in different settings such as in-person or remote (over-the-phone and/or video) in various services industries. While headquartered in Glastonbury, CT, we provide services to clients and work with independently contracted interpreters from all over the country.
***This independent contractor role offers a high degree of flexibility, allowing you to establish your own schedule and select between working in-person or remotely. We are seeking interpreters located in the Connecticut area, but we also offer remote assignments for qualified candidates outside of the state.***
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
* High school Diploma/GED
* Interpreter Certification(s) – Preferred
* Must pass a verbal exam (language assessment) to qualify
* Communication: Ability to communicate across cultures in a variety of media.
* Fluency: English + Secondary Language
* Technological proficiency: Familiarity with digital communication avenues, including live chat, email and text.
* Clarity: The ability to clearly relay ideas across cultures is integral to the role.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
* Provide on-site, AND/OR phone / video (remote) interpretation.
* Adhere to HIPPA guidelines and Code of Professional Ethics & Conduct.
* Available to accept appointments on a need-by-need basis and make your own schedule.
* Be able to listen attentively, understand spoken language, and accurately interpret it in real time.
* Possess strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport and maintain professional relationships with colleagues and clients.
* Manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.
* Have strong verbal and written communication skills in both the source and target languages to convey messages accurately, clearly, and effectively.
***We accept ALL languages, but our top 10 languages are Spanish, ASL, Portuguese, Chinese Mandarin, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Arabic, Portuguese (Brazilian), Albanian, and Polish.***
