Position Overview :
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) to join our team of aviation professionals. As a Flight Instructor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality flight instruction to learners completing Private, Instrument, and Commercial pilot training, helping them develop the skills, knowledge, and professionalism necessary to succeed in the aviation industry. You will work under the guidance of a Flight Lead, engaging in weekly check-ins to discuss student progress and strategies for success.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct one-on-one flight and ground instruction in accordance with FAA regulations and our flight school’s curriculum.
  • Conduct classroom-style ground instruction in accordance with FAA regulations and our flight school's curriculum, as assigned.
  • Be prepared for all lessons and adapt teaching styles to individual learner needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate learner performance, providing constructive feedback and fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate learner progress weekly with the Flight Lead to ensure goals and benchmarks are being met.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner training in compliance with FAA regulations and flight school policies.
  • Contribute to a positive, professional, and team-oriented culture within the flight school.
  • Stay current with aviation standards, technologies, and safety practices.

Requirements :

  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII); and MEI preferred.
  • Strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and adherence to FAA regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive, supportive feedback to learners.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and dedication to helping learners achieve their goals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and participate in weekly meetings with the Flight Lead.
  • Comfortable switching between multiple airframes and avionics packages on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Prior flight instruction experience.
  • Advanced Ground Instructor and/or Instrument Ground Instructor certificate.
  • Experience with training management systems and digital logbooks.

Requirements:

Technical Flight Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of flight principles, FAA regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in operating and instructing in various aircraft types used by the flight school.
  • Ability to effectively teach both VFR and IFR skills (CFII required).

Communication and Instructional Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly.
  • Strong ability to provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
  • Effective at breaking down complex procedures and principles for student comprehension.

Organizational and Time Management Skills

  • Capable of managing multiple students’ schedules and progress records.
  • Strong organizational skills to prepare lesson plans, maintain accurate logs, and document student performance.

Situational Awareness and Decision-Making

  • Ability to remain aware of aircraft and flight environment, ensuring safety in all training operations.
  • Skilled in quick, sound decision-making, especially under challenging or unexpected circumstances.

Interpersonal and Team Collaboration

  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, maintain professional relationships, and support a positive work culture.
  • Ability to engage with Flight Leads, students, and colleagues constructively, especially during progress updates.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Capability to assess student performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide actionable feedback.
  • Creative approach to adapting training techniques to overcome learning challenges and ensure student success.

Technological Proficiency

  • Familiarity with flight training management systems, digital logbooks, and training software.
  • Competence in using electronic devices for flight planning, navigation, and student performance tracking.

Education and Experience:

Commercial ASEL, CFI, CFII

MEI preferred

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
