FIELD INSTALLATION AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Arlington, TX $21.06 - $35.10 2 months ago Responsibilities Perform fusion and mechanical splicing on single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables. Work with ribbon fiber and high-volume splicing applications in cabinets and MDF locations. Interpret splicing plans, OTDR traces, and fiber characterization data accurately. Manage splice cases, vault installations, and link loss analysis. Locate and repair cable faults to maintain existing networks with minimal service disruption. Operate and maintain fusion splicing equipment (Fujikura, Fitel, Corning, etc.). Ensure accurate documentation and organization of splicing files using software systems. Conduct Job Hazard Assessments (JHA) and maintain a clean, safe work environment. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in fiber optic splicing. Valid Driver’s License and authorization to work in the U.S. Clear background check and drug screening required. High School diploma or GED (technical or higher education preferred). Strong knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations. Proficiency with fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and related tools. Certifications in fiber optics, splicing, or OTDR testing preferred. Ability to work independently and as part of a field team. OSHA 10 and CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain). Willingness to travel and work overtime when required. Proven track record of completing work safely and with high quality. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly. Comfortable with standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and confined-space work. Willing to work in aerial or outdoor environments in varying weather conditions. Good visual acuity for reading fiber color codes, OTDR traces, and schematics. Capable of long-duration precision work and travel to multiple job sites. Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required — hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, harness, and steel-toed boots.
