Job Description

Summary The Exhibit Designer II will work directly with the Exhibit Design team, clients, salespeople, and project management to deliver creative modular and custom exhibit design solutions based on client criteria. Exhibit Design work includes, sketching, 3D modeling/rendering, and detailing of designs for pricing and presentation. The Exhibit Designer II will use design research, graphic design tools, and environmental design to create work of moderate to high complexity. This role also engages in designer/sales training, mentoring Exhibit Designer I's, and supports Senior Exhibit Designers and the Exhibit Design Manager with departmental initiatives. Moderate involvement in designing and/or providing assets for marketing materials. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Consults with clients and salespeople on exhibit design criteria. Designs via sketching and 3D modeling/rendering. Conducts and communicates design research for projects. Works under minimal supervision with moderate to high latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Presents designs to client for approval. Archives design work and records a timesheet. Performs related design work as assigned. Supports senior designers on projects of high complexity. Mentors Exhibit Designer I's / interns on projects of simple to moderate complexity. Maintains certain aspects of departmental initiatives including light administrative duties. Develops new departmental tools and initiatives with moderate supervision. Education/Certification Bachelor's degree in exhibit design or industrial design or related field required Experience Professional level experience with 3D software for modeling, animating, texturing, and rendering exhibits required Professional level experience with Adobe Suite. (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) required Solid familiarity with modular exhibiting systems, custom fabrication, and graphic production required 3 - 4 years of experience designing trade show exhibits required A strong portfolio of client work reflecting the requirements of this position is expected Experience in product and graphic design a strong plus Experience with augmented environments a strong plus Experience presenting design related topics to audiences a strong plus Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Expert / Staff level understanding and experience with design processes Expert level skill in designing 3D environments with 3D software Ability to design expert level graphic materials for exhibit designs using Adobe Suite Expert level industry knowledge Demonstrated leadership ability with client projects or other designers Communication: Capacity to listen effectively; respond clearly and directly, use vocabulary appropriate to the situation; prepare clear, concise reports and records; receive written or oral instructions; use appropriate style, grammar, and tone in informational and formal business communications Organizational Ability: Capability to plan, organize and monitor activities according to priorities; establish schedules, deadlines or quotas; coordinate resources toward fulfillment of desired objectives; organize work autonomously or as part of a team; control and/or adapt to interruptions, changes, disorder without losing efficiency or composure Decision-Making: Ability to recognize symptoms of problems; gather and analyze information; consider a broad range of issues or factors; grasp complexities and perceive relationships among problems and issues; select the best alternative; make timely, sound decisions even under conditions of risk and uncertainty; sought out by others for advice and solutions Customer Service Focus: Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with all customers; able to anticipate and respond quickly to customers' requests; can ask for and act on customers' feedback regarding service levels and needs Attention to detail/accuracy: Checks and verifies work; pays attention to details; follows up with others to ensure accuracy. Commitment to Quality: Able to emphasize the need to deliver quality services; can define standards for quality and evaluate processes and services against those standards Equipment and Supplies Used Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Position is sedentary in nature. Occasional assistance may be requested for exhibit setup, but is not required.
