Job Description

A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support K-12 students in Lehigh Acres, FL. This role provides essential communication access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, enhancing their educational experience in a dynamic school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL).
• Accurately interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
• Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure students needs are met.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards of ethical interpreting.

Desired Qualifications:

• Proficient in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills.
• Experience interpreting in K-12 educational environments preferred.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, diverse school settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Relevant certification or credentialing as a sign language interpreter is a plus.
