The Company

Verve is a clinical-stage genetic medicines company established with a mission to solve the global health epidemic of cardiovascular disease. Founded by world-leading experts in cardiovascular medicine, human genetics and gene-editing, Verve is pioneering a new approach to the care of cardiovascular disease, potentially transforming treatment from chronic management to single-course gene editing medicines. The company's initial three programs – VERVE-101, VERVE-102, and VERVE-201 – target genes that have been extensively validated as targets for lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), a root cause of cardiovascular disease. VERVE-101 and VERVE-102 are designed to permanently turn off the PCSK9 gene in the liver and are being developed initially for heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) and ultimately to treat atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) patients not at goal on oral therapy. VERVE-201 is designed to permanently turn off the ANGPTL3 gene in the liver and is initially being developed for homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) and ultimately to treat patients with refractory hypercholesterolemia. The Position

Verve is looking for a Director of Corporate Communications to collaborate with the Head of Investor Relations and Corporate Communications in driving communication strategies both internally and externally. This person will be a crucial communications resource for company-wide initiatives, overseeing the creation and implementation of comprehensive communication plans that engage a diverse range of stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role and requires 3-days in our Boston office. We are considering local candidates at this time.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to design and execute a dynamic employee communications plan that elevates employer branding, supercharges recruitment, drives employee engagement, and fosters a vibrant company culture.
  • Lead digital and social media management, selecting the most impactful platforms, crafting tailored communication strategies, and delivering engaging content to maximize reach and resonance.
  • Serve as a strategic communications advisor to cross-functional teams, providing insights and guidance that enhance collaboration and message consistency.
  • Spearhead the creation and refinement of core communication materials, including impactful messaging, press releases, presentations, company emails, and more—ensuring clarity, cohesion, and influence across both internal and external audiences.
  • Craft compelling public messaging that aligns seamlessly with our outreach strategy, preparing for major company milestones, and ensuring synchronization with investor relations communications.
  • Oversee the corporate website, driving content strategy, visual design, and user experience to keep it updated with the latest pipeline advancements, scientific insights, and valuable patient resources.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs to prepare company spokespeople for media engagements, ensuring they are equipped to address emerging issues with confidence.
  • Manage training for participants and speakers at industry conferences, while identifying thought leadership opportunities.
  • Liaise with patient communications, ensuring patient-facing materials align with strategic goals.
  • Take ownership of corporate sponsorships and subscriptions, ensuring they align with our broader communications strategy.
  • Juggle multiple projects with finesse, ensuring on-time delivery without compromising quality.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team by providing clear direction, continuous feedback, and opportunities for growth. Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
  • Take on other exciting challenges as they arise, contributing to the broader success of the company.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience of experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry with a focus on corporate communications.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies that enhance brand reputation and align with business objectives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing digital and social media platforms, with a strong understanding of how to leverage these channels for corporate communication and brand building.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing performance.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align communication initiatives with business goals and adapt strategies to changing business environments.
  • Experience working closely with C-suite executives and serving as a trusted communications advisor.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong focus on timely delivery and quality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in corporate communications, public relations, and media relations.
  • Familiarity with corporate website management, including content strategy, user experience, and visual design.
  • Experience preparing spokespeople for media engagements, including media training and message development.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive company culture, with a focus on employee engagement and internal communications.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
