Science Opening for 2024-25 School Year
The Hinsdale School District is looking for a high school science teacher for the 2024-25 school year. Our core science classes include the entry-level courses of 7th/8th grade science, physical science, and biology. Our higher-level classes include chemistry, anatomy, and environmental science. Several of the classes pair, and we offer them in alternating years. Our math teacher is currently teaching physics. These courses are a starting point, but we would ideally like to tailor the position to the strengths of our top candidate while maintaining what our students need to be competitive and prepared for post-secondary education.
Salary is dependent on experience and is competitive. Veteran teachers may be credited with up to 10 years of previous teaching experience. Our insurance package includes health, dental, eye, and life insurance, with the district covering the amount of the single-rate premium and slightly more for the single+ and family. Employees already covered by insurance may opt to take a salary stipend of $300 per month. The district has staff housing available for rent and will work with any candidate to find quality housing.
Hinsdale is a Class C school with a K-12 enrollment of 55 students and class sizes that allow teachers to get to know and understand our students' individual needs. High school classes can vary in size from 1 to around 15. The district employs a four-day school week but sometimes utilizes Fridays for additional student support, training, and professional development, all of which staff is paid extra for. We have both coaching and extracurricular advising opportunities available. Our staff also receive a free school lunch with a wonderful salad bar option.
The district promotes a growth mindset and feels professional development should be continuous. Employees who add a certification for the district, become alternatively certified, or participate in valuable professional training will be supported financially through the district.
CREDENTIALS: Must have or be eligible for a Montana Teaching License for grades 7-12 science.
