Master Automotive Technician Job Summary

Our shop is seeking a Master Automotive Technician with extensive vehicle diagnostic and repair skills. In this role, you will diagnose a wide range of issues and make repairs to engines, transmissions, and suspensions, as well as electronic systems, such as brakes and steering. Our customers drive many different kinds of cars and trucks, so you must be comfortable working on a variety of makes and models. In addition to mechanical skills, you need excellent customer service skills to explain repairs and suggest preventative maintenance to our clients. Applicants must maintain their ASE certification and have a valid driver's license.

Automotive Technician Duties and Responsibilities

• Test components and systems using diagnostic equipment
• Discuss your findings with the customer/service advisor and obtain approval to move forward with repairs
• Replace and balance tires
• Assist with oil changes and inspections if necessary
• Maintain ASE certification
• Keep a clean and safe workplace

Automotive Technician Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Completion of trade school certificate program or mechanic training program (preferred)
• ASE certification
• Auto technician or mechanic experience (1 year minimum experience)
• Valid driver's license
• Physical stamina
• Basic computer skills
• Customer-oriented attitude

In 1971 the Mossy name moved to Houston with the purchase of an Oldsmobile dealership, which later added Nissan. The family expanded again in 1982 with the first dealership purchased in San Diego. Now, Mossy has six Nissan stores, one Ford, one BMW, one Honda, one Chevrolet and one Toyota dealership in the San Diego area.

On March 1, 2005, the Mossy name joined the Mississippi Gulf Coast area with a dealership in Picayune, Mississippi. Now there are fifteen dealerships following the legacy of Wiley L. Mossy. Mossy of Picayune is the only General Motors Superstore offering Chevrolet and GMC within fifty miles of downtown New Orleans. The ownership of Mossy of Picayune has over sixty years of automotive experience. After a 32 year career at Mossy Motors in New Orleans, Roger Bacon Jr. was appointed the Dealer Operator. Mr. Bacon has served as President of the Mississippi Automobile Dealers Association and was nominated for Time Magazine’s National Dealer of the Year award. Mr Bacon also served on the GM Financial dealer advisory board for four years.
