ASL Sign Language Interpreter - Part-Time

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to join our team for the school year (2024-2025) in Commerce, Georgia. This is a part-time position (16 hours/week) position providing one-on-one interpreting services for Georgia based school district.

In this role, you will play a vital role in bridging the communication gap, ensuring our students receive a rich and inclusive educational experience. Your responsibilities will include:

• Facilitating Clear and Accurate Communication: You will act as a language bridge, seamlessly interpreting lectures, discussions, and all classroom activities into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa. This ensures the student can fully participate and comprehend the curriculum alongside their peers.
• Collaboration for Success: You will work closely with teachers, other professionals, and the student's family to develop a comprehensive understanding of the student's needs. This collaborative approach allows you to tailor your interpreting style to best support the student's academic success and social integration within the classroom environment.
• Confidentiality and Professionalism: You will maintain strict confidentiality of all student information entrusted to you. Your professionalism and commitment to ethical practices will be crucial in creating a safe and supportive learning environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Minimum score of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or be eligible for testing.
• Strong understanding of ASL grammar and syntax.
