Job Description
This Accountant manages the weekly payroll process for Vermont Mechanical. Responsibilities include reviewing timecards for accuracy, making corrections, performing calculations, and submitting payroll for processing. This role oversees travel payments, labor allocations, and certified payroll when applicable. This position also assists with various general accounting functions as assigned.
*Essential Job Functions:*
* Prepares, processes and ensures the accuracy of all weekly, monthly, and year-end payroll requirements.
* Reviews approved timecards for accuracy, tracks and oversees payroll withholding, employee benefit, and payroll profile changes.
* Performs calculations and enters data to support payroll processing.
* Prepares construction payroll reports to support Davis-Bacon and certified wage requirements.
* Resolves payroll discrepancies and answers employee payroll queries.
* Maintains utmost confidentiality of sensitive company and payroll information as appropriate.
* Assists with various general accounting functions as assigned.
* Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
*Qualifications:*
* 3+ years of experience with payroll processing.
* Experience working with ADP or other external payroll processing vendors.
* Construction-based payroll experience is preferred.
* Excellent excel and computer skills required.
* Works quickly and accurately under pressure and can handle considerable stress.
* Reliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
* Typically, this position works Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM. This individual may need to work flexible hours during fiscal period closes.
*Physical Demands & Work Environment:*
* Frequent repetitive motion required (i.e. – use of keyboard) and sitting required.
* The typical work environment is an office setting.
