Job Title: Account Executive
Location: San Diego, CA

Position Overview:

A leading commercial flooring contractor in San Diego is seeking a results-driven Account Executive to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a background in project management or sales who wants to take ownership of client relationships, drive revenue growth, and manage projects from pre-construction through completion.

You'll be based in the company's San Diego headquarters, managing relationships with general contractors and end users across the county. This hybrid role combines sales and project management offering the chance to grow accounts while overseeing successful project execution.

Reporting to the VP of Sales, this role offers a competitive base salary plus commission and bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new client opportunities across general contractors and end users
  • Maintain a strong presence at industry events and associations
Pre-Construction & Planning
  • Conduct job site visits to assess project scope, take measurements, and identify logistical challenges
  • Create detailed estimates for labor, materials, and preparation requirements
  • Develop competitive project bids, including system recommendations (e.g., moisture mitigation) when applicable
Project Management & Execution
  • Oversee projects from contract award to completion, managing schedules, budgets, and installation quality
  • Coordinate with in-house installation teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and execution
  • Conduct regular site visits to proactively resolve field issues and verify progress
  • Track and manage job costing, billing, and change orders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Identify risks and inefficiencies, implementing corrective actions and process improvements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction sales, estimating, or project management, preferably in the flooring industry
  • Strong estimating, project planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to read plans/specs and use digital take-off and estimating tools
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with both internal teams and external clients
