    Spain

    HIGH DEMAND: January-December
    LOW DEMAND:

If it's beaches you're after, there is the jet-set Costa del Sol in the south, or San Sebastian in the Basque country, formerly the summer capital of Spain. Farther west is the resort city of Santander and La Coruna, a long standing favorite of British visitors. In the east is the Costa Brave, while to the south, around Alicante, is the Costa Blanca. When you tire of roasting in the sun, rent a car and head for one of the thousands of castles, ruins or museums. Perhaps the number one tourist attraction is the Alhambra, in Granada. Following close behind it come the Mosque of Cordoba and the Alcazar and cathedral of Seville. Avila is a historic walled town and Segovia boasts a Roman aqueduct and proud Alcazar. Madrid, the capital, contains some of the greatest art collections in the world, while Toledo, home of El Greco and boasting a cathedral, synagogues, and startling views, is one of Spain's greatest treasures. Finally, Barcelona, capital of Catalonia, has a charm and vitality all its own.
